An Update

Dear Light on The Page followers,

This is not Landar, but his son, Nathanael. You must all be aware of the complete absence of posts within the past 5 and a half months. Well, it is with great sadness that I have to inform you of the reason for this.

Last Summer, beginning of August, my father went to hospital to later discover he has a brain tumour. A malignant, and aggressive tumour. It has been a whirlwind of emotions since it’s happened, for each member of the family, friends, and especially Jay. It is a delicate matter, but I must inform you that aggressive treatment has been undertaken, which is now complete. Jay is safe in his hometown of Kilkenny, but due to problems the tumour has on his memory, speech,  and ability to read and write, he is unable to continue this blog at this point in time.

With saying that, Light on The Page will not disappear. I am always monitoring feedback, comments and news and report these back to Jay. It is my mission to bring Light on the Page to a wider audience. To the world.

This is where I must ask you a question. I need your help. I am undergoing a project, to create a book from Landar’s work on this blog, to also be called ‘Light on the Page’. This project involves a lot of work and thought, and in our home I have piles upon piles of printed sheets containing each piece Jay has ever written for Light on the Page. So much work, that I could create a lot more than just one book. So here is how you can help me.

If you can, please compile a list of what you believe to be is Landar’s best work on this blog. A list of what may be your favourite work of his. A list of what you think should be included in this book.

Email your list to

I will look at each one and compile together a list of my own through seeing what comes out most.

Again, email to

Thank you, and best wishes, today,

Nathanael Macdonald.

It is heart-breaking to hear that a poet such as Landar with a passion for words and speech and writing, no longer has that option, at least for now.
I, and many others, have benefitted from his remarkable output and keen insights and his beautiful simplicity.
We are grateful that you are keeping the website going!
I look forward to sending you a list of my faves.
Blessings to you and your father ~
